I am trying to locate graves of 2 relatives who died in 1905 in Jersey City. The undertaker was "Wm. H. Mead" of Jersey City. On both records the place of burial is "Bergen County". I have been contacting Bergen County cemeteries with no luck. Since funeral home records are private, I have been unable, so far, to locate those records. They were mother and daughter, both married in Protestant churches (mother married in the Methodist Episcopal Church in 2nd Ward, Hudson) and I believe they are buried in a Protestant cemetery. Other than contacting all the funeral home in Jersey City, does anyone have any ideas how to locate these graves? Thanks for advice.
Have you tried locating obituaries for the individuals? They may show the place(s) of interment. Try looking in the HUDSON OBSERVER DEATH NOTICES DATABASE ON THIS SITE. Although only a few months of 1905 have been indexed so far, you may get lucky and be able to identify the date of the publication of the Notice. Either way contact the Jersey City Library which has microfilm of most local papers for that time period.
